2015 Buffalo Bills - Greatest Team of All-Time or Just the Greatest Team of All-Time
Week 1 Recap - G.O.A.T.
Are the 2015 Buffalo Bills the greatest team of all-time or just the greatest team of all-time? Today’s performance by the entire team was masterful. The Bills excelled at all three phases of the game in their 27-14 defeat of theIndianapolis Colts. You may want to consider contacting P.E.T.A. considering how badly the Bills abused the Colts on Sunday afternoon at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
Andrew Luck now understands what every other QB who has to face the Bills this season will understand…you will get knocked down, you will get sacked, you will fear for your life all game long. As an NFL QB the only way to avoid being harassed by the Bills defense is to either not have a game scheduled versus the Bills or get a restraining order against their defensive line as soon as possible.
Ronald Darby the Bills 2nd round draft pick had the first of two interceptions by the Bills during the game late in the first quarter. This set up a scoring drive but more on that later. Aaron Williams had the other interception for the Bills.
As the game progressed early I thought I was going to be watching a Chad Penningtonstyle offense all season long when Tyrod Taylor’s first couple of throws were just dinks and dunks. My attitude changed immediately when I watched him loft a perfect 51 yard bomb to Percy Harvin for a touchdown right at the end of the first quarter. It felt like watching your first child being born but not having the responsibility of actually raising it. It was magical.
Every single Bills player was contributing. Karlos Williams showed why the Bills picked him in the 5th round with his 26 yard touchdown run with 20 seconds left in the second quarter to put the Bills up 17-0 heading into halftime. He’s a freaking steamroller and linebackers around the league should take notice because it’s not going to be fun to tackle this guy once he gets moving downhill.
Boobie Dixon put the game away in the middle of the third quarter with a 1 yard touchdown run to put the Bills ahead 24-0. It was nice to see the Bills finally utilize the guy after Doug Moron I mean Marrone completely mismanaged him last season.
The defense was swarming all day. The defensive line got pressure on Luck, the linebackers plugged the right holes and made great tackles, the coverage was great despite losing safety Corey Graham to a concussion at the start of the game. The offense clicked with Shady McCoy showing flashes of how he made it Sunny in Philadelphia with 3 key receptions for 46 yards and a few solid runs as well.
Tyrod Taylor (my Lord and Savior) was 14/19 for 195 yards with a 123.8 QB rating. He also contributed 41 yards rushing on 9 carries. He managed the offense beautifully and after the Bills got out to a big lead they did not need to pass as much which is why he had so few attempts. He made all the moves in all the right places and that’s why I believeOne Republic wrote that song about him. It’s obvious now why he won out the preseason QB competition. But let’s hold off on giving him Fitzpatrick money until Buffalo at least makes the playoffs.
The only downside to the game was that Sammy Watkins was nowhere to be found. He did not register a catch all day and was not really a factor at all. He wasn’t targeted until the 4th quarter. Let’s hope that it was because the defense was focused on stopping him and not a lack of chemistry between him and Tyrod.
You could not ask for a better first game for the Bills and their new coach Rex Ryan. The offense was able to move the ball, the defense was even better than advertised and they beat the living crap out of one of the better teams in the AFC. Rex Ryan has built his bully and the rest of the league is about to feel the wrath of the 2015 Buffalo Bills, the greatest team in the history of the NFL. It’s science.
